Review on Phytoremediation Potential of Floating Aquatic Plants for Heavy Metals: A Promising Approach

چکیده

Water pollution due to heavy metals has become a serious environmental concern their hazardous properties. Since conventional water remediation techniques are generally ineffective and non-environmentally friendly, phytoremediation gained increasing attention from worldwide researchers scientists its cost-effectiveness friendliness. Hence, this review first discussed soil remediations. Phytoremediation can be divided into five remove the polluted environment, namely, phytostabilization (phytosequestration), phytodegradation (phytotransformation), phytofiltration (rhizofiltration), phytoextraction (phytoaccumulation), phytovolatilization. Four common floating aquatic plants (accumulator plants), such as duckweed (Lemna minor), lettuce (Pistia stratiotes), hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), watermoss (Salvinia) were in detail great capability absorbing metal ions by roots further translocating aerial parts. Furthermore, parameter studies, optimum pH temperature of water, exposure duration, initial concentration, salinity, addition chelating agents, evaluated. The absorption kinetics was detail. In short, is promising green sustainable approach. However, research necessary enhance practicability performance at large-scale implementation.

Heavy metals phytoremediation by aquatic plants (Hyrocotyle ranocloides, Ceratophyllum demersum) of Anzali lagoon

Wetlands are often considered sinks for contaminants, and Aquatic plants have been shown to play important roles in wetland biogeochemistry through their active and passive circulation of elements. In this research, in order to evaluate the concentration level of heavy metals released by the urban, industrial and agricultural activities at the margin of the rivers flowing into Anzali lagoon, as...

Phytoremediation of Heavy Metals- A Review

An excess level of heavy metals are exposed into environment by industrial waste and fertilizers causes serious concern in nature as they are nonbiodegradable and accumulate at high levels. Heavy metals such as Pb, Zn, Cd, As etc. are one of the most toxic pollutants which show hazardous effects on all living livings. The prevailing purification technologies used for removal of contaminants fro...

Capuana M - Heavy metals and woody plants - biotechnologies for phytoremediation

Introduction Pollution of soil and agricultural land is a complex and serious phenomenon that in re cent decades has increased its negative ef fects on the environment. Transfer of toxic elements to human food chain is a concrete danger that has to be faced, taking into ac count the possibility for plants to accumulate and translocate contaminants to edible and harvested parts (Kloke et al. ...

Phytoremediation potential of wild plants growing on soil contaminated with heavy metals.

Phytoremediation is an emerging technology that employs higher plants to cleanup contaminated environments, including metal-polluted soils. Because it produces a biomass rich in extracted toxic metals, further treatment of this biomass is necessary. The aim of our study was to assess the five-year potential of the following native wild plants to produce biomass and remove heavy metals from a po...
